U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke Announces Fourth Americas Competitiveness Forum in Atlanta, Georgia

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke today announced open registration for the Fourth Americas Competitiveness Forum (ACF) in Atlanta, Georgia on November 14-16, 2010.

The ACF is the preeminent economic and commercial event in the hemisphere that brings together private sector and government leaders to share best practices for enhancing the competitiveness, innovation, and prosperity of the region.  The event will mark the return of the ACF to the United States after being hosted in Santiago, Chile in 2009, and will be the third ACF convened in the city of Atlanta.

“I am looking forward to co-hosting the Fourth Americas Competitiveness Forum along with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed this November,” Locke said.  “As our economy continues to grow, events like the ACF provide excellent opportunities for the business community to showcase new ideas and technologies, explore new markets, and uncover future opportunities for economic growth and job creation.”

The theme of the 2010 ACF program is “Building a Prosperous and Sustainable Future for the Americas.” Representatives from the hemisphere’s public and private sector will primarily focus on innovation and green technologies, education and workforce development, entrepreneurship and small business development, and trade facilitation.

Secretary Locke is expected to be joined at the ACF by ministers of trade and economy from throughout the region as well as senior representatives from business, academia, and civil society.  In addition to a dynamic agenda with thought-leaders representing the private sector, academia, and governments, the ACF will also include export counseling sessions, market opportunity sessions where business can learn about new trade and investment opportunities, business to government meetings, and business to business matchmaking sessions.

Registration is open to any member of the public.  For additional information or to register for the ACF, please visit www.competitivenessforum.com
